"Your Baker" [518 86th St], the bakery (a Bay Ridge institution) that just about every living generation has ever known locally, is closing shop at the end of this month, with the Saraniero's moving onward with their retirement plans. Many know Your Baker to be housed in the building with it's own name inscribed into the facade.

The space is for rent, but the business is for sale |
As many have noticed earlier this month, a banner affixed to the front proclaims that they're selling the business. An article written at the Home Reporter
reaffirms what many of us knew. For many life-long residents of Bay Ridge though, many have taken to social media to express mixed emotions, and hope Your Baker can continue on under the tutelage of new owners to continue the tradition or go a different way. You may remember just earlier this April, Monaco, Sr. of Monaco's Bakery
announced their retirement and subsequent closure.

Either way, be sure to stop in tomorrow (10/31) to give them a proper send-off, and pick up a box of baked goods. If you want to do something about it, reach out to friends, family, people in the industry who would be interested in keeping this legacy alive.
