Former Third Ave Mobil Lot Set For New Construction
The Mobil gas station [8101 3rd Ave] operated for years. When their lease ran out in 2011, the 11,000ft2 lot was empty for years until Brooklyn Market had it paved over and turned it into a parking lot. Little did we know that this was not meant to be for long.
We know now that a planned stunning new three story building with (likely) underground parking will be going up, yielding 20,000ft 2 of commercial leasing space in accordance to existing zoning laws. Referring to the conceptual drawing though, it looks to tower over 4 stories and is well positioned for offices, possibly even a bank. As of the time of this writing, construction has not yet started, as we're sure the developer will have to dig out the fuel tanks (remember the gas station?), and DEP has to run through their assessments and tests afterwards.

One of my 1st jobs in Brooklyn was at this station. Biggest scams in NYC..
ReplyDeleteAccording to photo rendering, proposed construction is ugly. Why not just leave it as it is now, a parking lot. Oh, wait. There's $$$$$ involved!
